Successful business plan development begins with strategic planning. Once your strategy planning has helped you to identify your company's unique market position and those actions that will lead to superior profit - you are then ready to begin working on business plan development.

Business plan development can create value for a leadership team if it helps the team concisely describe how they will create shareholder value, answer critical questions, and articulate milestones (product, financial, other) that can be used to measure progress. The business plan has much more value if management uses it to execute well. In turn, the business plan may create value if it supports management in raising capital.

The business plan should be the substance that backs up the company "pitch." You should develop and give your company pitch to seasoned business people and hone and refine this pitch (the essence of your strategy) until it resonates strongly with a variety of senior business people. Only then does it warrant the investment of the time to develop the full business plan. The business plan should be written by management as this increases introspection while writing it and commitment to the milestones and budget in the plan.

We are capable of developing business plans, but generally we encourage management to own the planning process and the resulting business plan. In essence, we complement your passion and focus, with our outside perspective and business acumen to improve your company's pitch and business plan. We help you set priorities, develop milestones to measure by, and ensure there is alignment (goals, resources, budget) throughout your plan.
